Homemade Syrups

Can not do a pancake post without doing a syrup one now can I?

Syrup 1

2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 Tablespoon molasses
1 tsp. vanilla or maple flavoring ( a drop of black walnut would taste great too I am sure but not a teaspoon of it, black walnut is a potent flavoring!)

Add water, molasses and sugar in a pan and bring to boil stirring constantly. Turn it down some so it does not boil over and continue stirring constantly while rapidly boiling about 2 minutes. Remove from Burner and stir in flavoring. ( will thicken if you let it cool but we pour it into a pyrex 2 cup measuring cup and serve hot)

( if desired you can add fresh berries, jam or walnut or hickory nuts even or fresh fruit such as bananas, add it to the sugar and water prior to bringing to boil)

Syrup 2
No Molasses? No frets!

2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1/4 cup jelly or jam ( any flavor! We like grape jelly in it!)

Add all in pan and bring to boil, rapidly boil stirring constantly for 2 minutes!
