Day 2: Inspiration

So after yesterday's assessment and the conclusion our learning space is drab, boring and well pathetic in a very sad way, today I turned to the web for a little inspiration!

I do not want to turn our home into a copy of a public school classroom, however I want it inviting and an environment in which learning flows and is inspired in a highly motivational way. One that adds interest and beauty within the home too. Today I poured over sites and homeschool set ups and while much of what I found was aimed for a younger crowd than my 10 year old daughter and 13 year old son, I did find inspiration!

Would you like to visit some of the places I did? Also I would love if you left links here that showcase photos of your own homeschool learning spaces!

Then go to

Then you will want to check out

Be sure to stop by

These are all inspiring links of creating pleasing to the eye and inviting learning spaces. As I said I have 2 older kids to keep in mind as we create our own space here as well as what they are interested in. However I was inspired by the links I shared and am thinking, thinking, thinking and contemplating the very limited space we have available as of right now, in our moment.

What does your learning space look like? Be sure to leave a link to photos in the comment section! We would love to see them!

  1. Hey we are actually going to be redoing our small space (dining room) in the spring, so I will have to post then as we will be regrouping and doing for a older bunch as well. :) Stay Tuned for ours in the spring. :)

    OUR DAY 1 and 2.

  3. I am excited to see what you guys do with your learning space. I did have to laugh though because as I was reading this post I remembered several years ago when I transformed our laundry/storage/craft room into an organized, easy to breath and work room. My daughter was very upset. All the confusion of the old room provided a creative outlet for her and with everything cleaned and organized she "couldn't find a thing" she needed. :) Have fun with your project!

  4. Ha Ha Cathy my daughter is the same way, she is in large part why my house appears a mess many times as her creative surges leaves chaos and tornados behind her and when I clean she gets upset that I "moved" everything and she can't find anything!

  5. Sheila, I can not wait to see your new Dining room in the spring. It is fun to see others Learning Spaces and get inspired!
