A Dog's Chicken Stew

Dog's Chicken Stew

2 Chicken Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
8 cups water
3 or 4 Carrots cut into 1 inch pieces
1 can green beans with liquid
2 chicken or beef bullion cubes
1/2 cup brown rice

Place whole chicken breasts in water, add carrots and bullion cubes. Bring to boiling, cover with lid and turn heat down to medium so it gently boils for 1 hour.

Remove chicken and shred or cut into small pieces, return to water and carrot mixture.

Add can of green beans and rice, cover and continue gently boiling 20 to 30 minutes stirring occasionally until rice is done and soaked up a lot of the liquid. (will be some broth still)

Cool and keep in large ice cream bucket or other covered container.
(for my 35 pound dog this is enough to feed 2x a day for 4 days.)

    1. Oh wow poor Molly! We switched our Sophie over to a homestyle diet as dog food is not always the best and her coat was very dry and flaky, we add cod liver oil and brewers yeast to one of meals daily and she really is thriving on the homestyle diet now.

  4. This would be ridiculously expensive for my Great Dane, but sounds like it works for your 35-pound pup!

    1. Yes I am not sure what the cost comparison would be for a large breed, I use to own 5 dogs and did not do it for them. But I have found for our border collie, it is about the same a month as I would spend on dog food.
